Oh I love Anthropomorphic animals, excellent story.
We were privileged to get to see the elephants fed once at the World Renowned Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, USA a number of years ago. I remember whole cabbages on the menu (among other items) that day. Followed promptly by bathroom behavior.
I absolutely loved the blend biosphere coups, DNA mix-ups, and Vermeer.
I have also written a short story with a kind of similar mix up of things in its plot.
